F1 legend Fernando Alonso hands out prizes to juniors then decides to get into the SWS action
Mansoori in the SWS Seniors and Connor in the SWS Juniors go home with the big trophies
Double F1 world champion Fernando Alonso, fresh from his race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, dropped in to visit the Kartdrome on Monday night for Round 15 of the 2015 SWS Sprint Series and decided to join in the action.
Despite having little experience in the Sodi RX7 karts the McLaren F1 driver was quickly on the pace, qualifying second fastest behind perennial front runner Rami Azzam.
In the race Alonso kept pace with the leaders, but his lack of track time in the leisure karts saw him finish fifth in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2 – and always in contention for a top spot. He also set the fastest lap of the SWS season – 1:10.592 -in the final race.
The real winners were all the drivers on the night who will have bragging rights forever that they raced with the Spaniard who is considered one of the great drivers of the modern era.
The battle for top honours was intense with Ali Al Mansoori, Husain Umid Ali, Rami Azzam and Saeed Al Mehairi all in the thick of the action.
Al Mansoori did enough to claim the big trophy on the night by finishing second in Heat 1 and then winning Heat 2, with Azzam second overall after winning the first heat and crossing the line third in the second heat.
Umid Ali’s fourth place and second place, in Heat 1 and Heat 2 respectively, was enough for third place overall.
In the SWS Masters class Adrian Jones took top honours ahead of second placed Hassan Ayub and Anthony Hirst in third.
Earlier in the evening Alex Connor scored two wins in the SWS Junior class and with it bagged maximum points.
In Race 1, Connor was run close by Jakub Fitzsimmons in second, with Zaid Alami third, while in Race 2 Danny Shields chased Connor all the way to the flag, the pair a mere half a second apart as they crossed the line ahead of Seif Al Naggar in third.
When the points were tallied up it was Connor on the top step of the podium, with Fitzsimmons second and Shields third – the trio thrilled to be presented with their trophies by F1 double world champion Fernando Alonso.
Kartdrome’s David Bright summed up proceedings: “Another exciting night of SWS Sprint races, with the presence of Fernando Alonso a highlight of the evening. Our drivers getting the privilege and honour of racing and interacting with such a legend.”
“He showed his true colours and passion for the sport as he lined up on the grid with Kartdrome race suit and simply got on with the racing without any airs and graces. He has made many friends from the karting community here in Dubai, ” added Bright.Комментарий

Three Endurance Championship title up for grabs in the Kartdrome 24 Hours
Dubai Falcons lead the standings but face tough competition
Reigning champions CG Racing targeting another triple crown
Former champions Batelco make a welcome return to the series
The 2015 Kartdrome Endurance Championship Driven by Mini comes to a conclusion this weekend with the running of the Kartdrome 24 Hours race at the UAE’s most popular karting venue, where the stage is set for an intriguing finale as three titles are set to be decided when the chequered flag waves on Saturday.
The season thus far has been a riveting contest between defending champions CG Racing Pro and Dubai Falcon Racing Team in the Pro Category, with the CG outfit winning the opening round and the Falcons bouncing back to win the next two rounds.
The two pace setting teams head for a final showdown this weekend with Dubai Falcons topping the standings with 115 points and CG Racing Pro a mere five points adrift. With 60 points on offer to the winners of the 24 hours race, it has become a case of “winner takes all” in the fourth and final round.
Dubai Falcons team manager Hadi Al Bloushi said, “Our goal is to win the final race and with it the title. We are aware that the competition will be tougher than ever, but I have full faith in our drivers and crew who are more than capable of lifting the big trophy on Saturday afternoon.”
In the unlikely scenario of neither CG Racing Pro or Dubai Falcons finishing the race, Mini Dubai – made of only Emirati drivers – have a mathematical chance of claiming the top prize, but their focus will not be on the overall honours but rather on claiming the Nations Cup title which they lead with 115 points to their credit.
Hot on their heels are the all-Lebanese CG Racing 1 team, with 107 points to their credit who are followed by the all-Indian driver line-up of ENOC-NHB and the Russian LD Racing outfit.
All four teams are in with a chance of nabbing the coveted Nations Cup title, but the smart money would be on Mini Dubai or CG Racing 1 doing the business when it matters.
Three teams are in the hunt for the title in the prestigious Corporate Category with Team Emirates topping the table with 107 points, but chased hard by CG Racing 1 and CG Racing 2 with 105 and 102 points respectively, thus setting the scene for a fascinating race-within-a-race, where once again the ‘winner takes all’ scenario will come into play.
CG Racing team manager Habib Chouery said ahead of the weekend, “Last year we made history by becoming the first team to be champions in all categories in a single season. This year we are targeting all three titles once again and we have full faith that our team will accomplish this tough mission.”
Traditionally the season finale Kartdrome 24 Hours draws a top notch field and this year once again there is a great depth of quality.
Triple champions Batelco return to do battle and will be the proverbial ‘cat among the pigeons’ as they are a squad with huge experience, more than capable of upsetting the balance of power and sure to be in the mix for top honours this weekend.
A host of international teams from Russia, Ukraine, Austria, China, France and Germany will be unknown quantities and along with the ‘usual suspects’ – such as Globcom, Lukoil Racing Team and Mach 1 – could spring a surprise.
Dubai Autodrome chairman Ali Al Fardan said, “To celebrate on the podium, at the end of the 24 hours, teams and drivers will need to dig deep into their pools of speed, stamina, determination and teamwork and make these all gel into one giant effort which may be rewarded when the chequered flag waves.”
“Whatever the case, every team that rises to the challenges and completes the 24 hours should be proud of their efforts – all winners in their own right,” concluded Al Fardan.
Track action on Friday (11 December) starts with Free Practice at 9:30am, followed by qualufying at 10:45am and the classic Le Mans style start at 12:00 noon. The race will end 24 hours later on Saturday 12:00 noon.
Entry is free for spectators with easy access to viewing areas as well as the pits and paddock area. Food and refreshments are available at the Kartdrome throughout the two days of racing.

Целый ряд международных команд из России, Украины, Австрии, Китая, Франции и Германии будет неизвестно количествах и наряду с "обычными подозреваемыми" – такие как Globcom, "Лукойл рейсинг Тим" и mach 1 – может преподнести сюрприз.

Отслеживания действий на пятницу (11 декабря) начинается с бесплатных занятий в 9:30 утра, затем qualufying в 10:45 утра и в классическом стиле "Ле-Ман" начало в 12:00 полдень. Гонка закончится через 24 часа в субботу 12:00 полдень.
Вход бесплатный для зрителей с посещением смотровых площадок, а также в боксах и паддоке. Еда и напитки доступны в Kartdrome в течение двух гоночных дней.

А так же увеличить стоимость тренировок на клубной технике до 1000 рублей за 15 минут.

Dubai Falcon Racing Team claim victory in fourth and final round to clinch the championship
CG Racing claim Corporate Championship title and Mini Dubai tops in Nations Cup
Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum led the Dubai Falcon Racing Team to a deserved victory at the Dubai Kartdrome 24 Hours and with it claimed the 2015 Kartdrome Endurance Championship Driven by Mini, on a day which also saw the all-Emirati team Mini Dubai take top honours in the Nations Cup and CG Racing take home the Corporate Championship trophy.
Dubai Falcons – with Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, Saeed Al Mehairi, Steve Lyall, Sam Zian and Ali Al Mansoori on driving duty, managed by Hadi Al Bloushi – powered to a well calculated victory in a race which saw them in a battle with several teams throughout the course of the 24 hours, but in the end they notched up 1137 laps, taking the chequered flag one lap ahead of quadruple champions Batelco in second, and last year’s champions CG Racing Pro a mere 9 seconds adrift in third.
Globcom Flame were contenders throughout the race, and were rewarded with fourth place overall for their efforts.
Winning Dubai Falcons team manager Hadi Al Bloushi said: “This is really a great moment for us. This was a tough race with some very strong competitors and to finish on top is a big achievement for our team. Big thanks to all our supporters, and we dedicate this title Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and thank him for for his support which helps make this happen.”
Fifth overall were the all-Russian Parovoz RT Forza team, who did enough to claim the prestigious Nations Cup trophy on the day, with ENOC-NH8 and Mini Dubai seventh which was enough for the all-Emirati team to clinch the 2015 Nations Cup title.
Team manager Mohammed Al Ghurair was full of praise for his drivers Abdulla Al Ali, Ali Al Najjar, Hussain Umid Ali and Haytham Sultan, and said afterwards, “This was all about team work. Our drivers stuck to the game plan and in the end there is no I in teamwork.”
“See you at the SWS Finals in Paris” concluded Al Ghurair, alluding to the fact that the 2015 Kartdrome Endurance Champions get an automatic entry to the SWS Grand Finals which take place every year in France, where the top SWS Endurance teams from around the world battle it out for the top prize in international leisure karting.
Also decided on the day was the Corporate Championship, claimed by CG Racing 2 thanks to class victory in this the fourth and final round, where they finished eighth, but decisively ahead of the their main Corporate rivals Team Emirates.
CG Racing team boss Pierre Choueiri said, “What a relief! It was too close where everything that could happen… happened. CG Racing 2 did their job perfectly. They were consistent, their kart was okay. It’s beautiful.”
“Today we scored first in the Corporate category, second in the Pro category and Nations Cup third. Well done to the boys, it’s podium all over again,” added Choueiri.
Thus the fourth and final round of the 2015 edition of the Kartdrome Endurance Championship was concluded, with the big winners being Dubai Falcon Racing Team and the final word goes to team captain Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, “2015 Kartdrome Endurance Champions sounds very good. We managed to win the final race of the series and with it the championship. The team have done really a great job from the start of the race until the end.”
“As usual it was not easy, as the competition has always been strong but finally I feel very pleased that we won. A reward for the hard work put in by everyone connected to our team,” concluded Sheikh Hasher.
