Driver Database has recently teamed up with Grand Prix Shootout which is an exciting new driver talent competition.
The aim of Grand Prix Shootout is to find the best up-and-coming in the world and to take them all the way to Formula 1. So, that could be you!
ASSESSMENT
Drivers from all over the world will be assessed in the UK by one of the greatest driver coaches ever, Rob Wilson. 25 people will make it to the second round where they will take part in a full day test driving a Dallara Formulino run by Carlin Motorsport. The Final will see 10 drivers spend two days testing a Carlin run KTM X-Bow and a Dallara Formula 3 car.
THE PRIZE
The winner will get a full season of Formula BMW Europe with Carlin Motorsport and all the usual driver development support. Towards the end of the year, a share issue will be launched in the driver’s future career earnings. Assuming they have proven that they will be “the next big thing”, the share issue should be a success and they will then have the budget to race in F3 and World Series by Renault with Carlin in 2011 and 2012. After that, they will have both the budget and support necessary to have a good chance of making it into F1…
WHO’S INVOLVED?
Peter Windsor
Peter is the former Team Manager of Williams F1 and Scuderia Ferrari’s Technical Centre, manager of Nigel Mansell and Carlos Reutemann, the voice F1 for FOM, Speed TV, Channel 10 and is the Grand Prix Editor of F1 Racing magazine.
Rob Wilson
Rob is regarded by many in Formula 1 as the best driver coach in the world. In any one year, Rob is probably working with a number of current F1 drivers to help them go quicker. He works closely with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull Racing.
Carlin Motorsport
Carlin Motorsport are one of the world’s most successful teams outside F1. They currently race in British and Euro F3 and World Series by Renault. Last year they finished first, second and third in the British F3 International Series!
Frank Bradley
Frank is one of the most respected names in motorsport. He is a former driver with a career highlight of beating Ayrton Senna in the wet! He founded Swift Europe and won titles in British Formula Ford as a constructor and works team. He still races for fun and is on the Board of the BARC.
David Fleming
David has worked in motorsport marketing for over 20 years including almost 10 years with Williams F1. Other clients have included TAG McLaren Marketing, Damon Hill, Jordan GP, Jaguar Racing, Formula1.com and FOTA.
HOW TO ENTER
Anyone can enter but the competition is more suitable for experienced karters and junior drivers who feel they are ready for Formula BMW in 2010 – with the correct preparation that we will provide. Officially, drivers must be 16 to enter. However, drivers under 16 may enter provided they can show they are experienced enough.
To enter, just fill in the entry form at www.grandprixshootout.com and pay the initial £100 deposit. You will then have your profile activated and an assessment date can be arranged to suit you.
